Great Family dog breeds?

I have grown up with a golden retriever and she is the sweetest dog ever! She was really good when we first got her as a puppy when I was in first grade. She loves to play around and be active. However, I live in the south so in the summertime here she does shed and since this past winter was warmer than others she shed a little in the winter as well. I hope this helps and I highly recommend a golden retriever. I've heard nothing but good things from other owners as well (its just not my particular dog). Best of luck!
