American seatbelt laws?

i'm writing an argumentative essay about why seatbelt laws should be repealed. one of my main arguments is that they are unconstitutional. i do however feel that seatbelts should be mandatory for kids who aren't yet responsible enough to make this type of decision. does this mean i'm a hipocrite? what should i do?
