Can anyone with some sort of legal experience help me with this question?

I'm doing a mock trial in English cl, and I'm the defense. One of the prosecutor's charges is "attempted 3rd-degree murder". I don't think that's possible. Isn't 3rd-degree murder UN-INTENTIONAL murder? How can you attempt to un-intentionally kill someone? And if you know this, can you tell me where to get more info on this possibly?
